A quarter of employees in Australia experience high levels of stress at work and a fifth claim they plan to leave their employer within 12 months.
The report also revealed that one in five employees suffered from a mental health condition - 29 per cent struggled with job insecurity, 24 per cent with bullying and 22 per cent with work-related insomnia. Job strain-attributable depression and stress costs the Australian economy $730 million a year, mostly worn by employers.
Untreated mental health conditions cost Australian workplaces approximately $11 billion per year.
This comprises $4.7 billion in absenteeism, $6.1 billion in presenteeism and $146 million in compensation claims.
